Camp Watitoh is
located in the heart of the Berkshire Mountains of western Massachusetts,
in the town of Becket, about 15 miles from Pittsfield, 3 hours north of
New York City, 2 hours west of Boston, and less than an hour from Bradley
International Airport in Connecticut. The camp property consists of 90
acres of campus fields and woodlands, situated at an altitude of 1700', on
the northern shore of Center Lake. The unique natural beauty of the lake
and grounds, combined with the healthful dry summer climate at the top of
the Berkshires, gives Watitoh an ideal camp setting.
There are separate campus areas for 100 boys and 100 girls, each guided
and supervised by a dedicated counselor staff. The size of each age group
assures every camper the opportunity to fully participate in both
individual and team sports and activities, and to maintain a family-like
relationship with fellow campers and counselors. Watitoh stresses a high
caliber of cabin counselor, and much of our staff have been at the camp
for several summers. Head Counselors and leadership staff are teachers and
coaches, and therefore, able to offer our campers an inspired skills
program. All counselors are selected for their qualities of high personal
example, fondness for children and enthusiasm for the outdoors and camp
life.
The camp season lasts for eight weeks. Visiting Day is the middle Saturday
of the summer. The campsite is always open to be seen throughout the Fall
and Spring months. The Directors will be pleased to arrange a personal
interview and visit the home of families interested in Watitoh to discuss
the ideals, program, and facilities of the camp in detail.
